Land surveying involves the measurement, location, and documentation of property boundaries and other features using instruments such as transit, total stations, GPS receivers, laser rangefinders, and aerial photography. Land surveyors also measure and document the elevations and depths of streams, ponds, lakes, and wetlands.
Land surveyors must understand basic geometry and trigonometry and possess excellent verbal communication skills.
