Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors
The Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors regulates the practice of engineering and surveying in the state. The board's primary objective is to protect the public by ensuring that competent, qualified professionals are engaged in providing engineering or surveying services. The board has jurisdiction over all persons who engage in any phase of professional land surveyor work as defined herein; it also has authority to regulate such activities through its rules and regulations.

Wyoming law requires all persons who engage in the practice of professional engineering or professional land surveying, whether they do so under their own name or through an unincorporated association, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, trust, estate, joint venture, or any combination thereof, must be licensed with the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office.
A license may not be issued until after the applicant has successfully completed both the PE/PLS examination and the application process. For more detailed information regarding licensure requirements please see our Licensure section below.

An individual seeking to become registered as a professional engineer must first pass the exam. A candidate for registration must have at least five years experience working as a professional engineer. Candidates must also meet certain educational prerequisites set forth by statute.
This document does not allow one to work as a professional engineer without further authorization. To obtain this additional authority, applicants must file an Application for Registration form. Once approved, the applicant can then begin practicing as a professional engineer.

Application Process:
To apply for a license you will need to complete two separate applications; one for your individual license and another for your firm. You should print out each form and sign it before submitting them.
You will also need to provide proof of eligibility to work in Wyoming. To obtain this documentation, Search for “Workers Compensation Eligibility Verification Form.” Once you receive confirmation of your eligibility, Submit the required documents along with your application materials.
If you plan to use a business entity to conduct your engineering activities, you must file a statement indicating which individuals are authorized to represent the business entity. In addition, you must include copies of articles of incorporation, corporate resolutions, stock certificates, etc.
